1. RAULGON GETS DEATH THREAT

Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez revealed an assassination plot against him. The secretary showed a copy o a secret document from the military intelligence group that cited a plot to kill him. He said he obtained the copy on July 30, 2005 from sources.

In the document, military intelligence unit wrote that Gonzalez's role in defending the President was the primary reason behind the plot. "The group mentioned the order from the National Organ to liquidate persons with blood debt to the people and foremost in the list is Secretary Gonzalez due to his role in the PGMA administration which the Party perceived to be anti-people." It was the secret meeting among the CPP/NPA unit operating in Negros and the Panay Islands.

The report cited the following personalities who attended the meeting: Roberto Gomia @ Toto; Romeo Capalla and Jessie Lipura @ Bening, all of PRPC; Fred Canja, Armando Sumayang, Karl Ombion @Kadong (TNU); @ John (TNU) of KR-N; @Jimmy, @Boyet, and @Phil all TNU from Manila who are believed to be members of the Special Operations Group.

The same report said the order was handed down in the last week of June. Five teams of SOG have been allegedly deployed in Manila, Cebu and Iloilo. Residential houses as well as hotels possibly being frequented by Gonzalez were already cased and mapped out.

"There is an eminent threat on the life of DOJ Secretary Raul Gonzalez ... the said information have been confirmed by different sources as of July 15, 2005," the report said.

Gonzalez merely laughed off the threat saying two weeks before the State of the Nation Address of the President on July 25, he received a handwritten note saying he won't be able to attend the SONA anymore.

"But I was there! " Gonzalez retorted. "This threat will not keep me from talking and defending the President," Gonzalez added.
